Hello, the blessings of the Lord rest upon you. Today, I have something interesting to share with you. We began our journey earlier this month by looking at the power of declaratory prayers, and the Lord has been merciful to us through the insight and depth he has given us so far. I also want to use this opportunity to appreciate all those who have joined our mailing list.  It is my firm belief that the Lord who put it in your heart to join this list, will continue to give you words of encouragement and spiritual development through our weekly newsletter.

For the previous series in the month of June concerning the power of Declaratory prayers, you can get them here (Series 1, 2, 3 and 4). If you read the previous articles, you will understand the power of declaratory prayers.

Have you been making declarations? Or have you been quiet? Whatever your answer to the above questions may be, it is important for us to understand the things that can hinder our declaratory prayers. The Bible says a man’s belly shall be satisfied by the fruit of his lips. If the words of our mouth can satisfy our belly, then it is necessary for us to consider some of the things that can hinder us from been satisfied with the words our mouths.

Inconsistency

Beloved, inconsistency sends a very discordant signal in the realm of the spirit. When the angel of the Lord met Joshua at the battlefield, Joshua questioned the angel whose side are you on. In this our mortal realm and even in the realm of the spirit, it is impossible for a man to stand on the fence. God even told the people in the book of Revelation that kept standing on the fence that he would spew them out of his mouth.

Revelation 3:16

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

When the words of your declaration are inconsistent, it is impossible for you to be satisfied with the fruit of your lips. For God, whose side are you on? And the greatest problem some of us have is that today we are declaring the right words in line with Scriptures and tomorrow we are confessing our doubts. When we do so, we completely nullify the power of our declaratory prayers. It becomes of none effect. You can’t be making declaratory prayers that today I am blessed, the lines are falling onto me in pleasant places, I decree that I am the head and not the tail, I decree that I am financially blessed, I decree fruitfulness in my womb, I decree that the works of my hands are fruitful, et cetera. And when it is tomorrow, you begin to declare with your mouth I don’t even know if I will have money today. This pregnancy, I am not even sure when I will get pregnant, everything seems to be upside down. This is tantamount to a simple mathematical equation of ONE MINUS ONE= ZERO. I was going through a situation some few days ago and I was making declaratory prayers in line with what I am teaching you. And the Lord reminded me to be consistent in my declarations.

Doubt

Doubt is the opposite of faith. When we doubt, we are clearly telling God that we do not believe in his capacity to bring to pass our declaratory prayers. The Bible says in the book of James chapter 1 verse six, that a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways and let that man not think that he will receive anything from the Lord. One of the greatest tools at the disposal of the devil that he uses to hinder the declaratory prayers of believers is doubt. God detests it when we without. The Bible says that we should be careful so that an evil mind of unbelief does not develop in our spiritual life (Hebrews 3:12). We have to watch carefully when we make declaratory prayers. The enemy is ever lurking around the atmosphere to fire darts of doubts against us. Our greatest weapon against his doubt is and will continue to remain the word of God – The Holy Bible.

Looking at the Mountain

When we pay unnecessary attention at the mountain that we are making declaratory prayers against, it magnifies before our eyes. This will, in turn, make us doubt the ability of God to solve our problems. For instance, when you are making declaratory prayers against a particular illness, and you pay attention to the illness rather than to the power of God to work a miracle through your declaratory prayers, the mountain continues to get bigger and bigger. This will later breed discouragement in your heart. When you are making declaratory prayers, your attention should be focused on God and not on the mountain or the problem at hand.

Sin

This three letter word has done a great deal of damage to the declaratory prayers of many in the body of Christ. The words that come out of your mouth as declarations are actually prayers. What is the foundation of every prayer that we pray? A clean and pure heart.

Psalms 66:18

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

If we regard any form of sin in our hearts, the Lord will not hear us. Our declaratory prayers become vain and won’t even ascend on high to make any form of impact that can deliver us. Beloved, it doesn’t matter what type of sin it may be, no matter how little it is sin has the potential effect of nullifying your declaratory prayers. One of the things that send God far away from man is sin. When it was found in the life of Lucifer, he was kicked out of heaven. When it was present in the lives of Adam and Eve, they were sent out of the garden. Beloved, that is the attitude of God towards sin and iniquity. Constantly checking the borders of our hearts to ensure that it is clean and also our heart in itself, will ensure that our prayers ascend on high and this by extension will have a great impact on the power of our declaratory prayers. If you have been making declaratory prayers and nothing seems to take effect, it is time to live in purity.

May the Lord give us the grace to walk far above the hindrances of declaratory prayers, in Jesus name, Amen.
