Wisdom for Family
Hello, the blessings of the Lord rest upon you. We are concluding our discussion on wisdom which we started at the beginning of the month. I believe that the Lord has used this series on wisdom to impart your life. God bless you and do not forget to comment on the blog post.
The family is one of the most important structures of society. That is why no one falls from the sky. Even Jesus had to be born into a family. Everyone comes from a family unit. It is through the family, that strong cultural and societal values are communicated. And as Christian family members, there is wisdom for family living. Kids who come out from strong Christian families, often lead exceptional spiritual lives. The first place where the word of God is taught and learned is from the family. So where a good spiritual climate is cultivated, it becomes a fertile ground for raising spiritual giants. It is, therefore, a great spiritual responsibility that God has given to parents and even members of the family to carry out in order to impact the lives of others within that small compact unit called family.
If you are a parent reading this blog post right now, you need to pay careful attention to what I am saying. The wisdom you demonstrate in your family will affect future generations. There was a man in the Bible that committed atrocities and God told him, behold you are a dead man. The man quickly responded to God, will you also slay a righteous nation.
Genesis 20:3-4
But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.20:4 But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, LORD, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?
So whatever culture you transmit to your kids will be transmitted to the next nations. The Bible says concerning Abraham, that I know him for he will command his children after him to do justice and judgment.
Genesis 18:19
For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
Every opportunity given unto us to be a part of the family is an opportunity to impart other members of that family for the kingdom of God. If Christian parents will do their responsibility as God has commanded, we won’t be suffering from the societal ills that we see today. I pray that God will help us all to perform our responsibility in the family in order to breed spiritual giants.
If only we know that some of the spiritual activities we do as a family enhances our unity and bond us together, we will do those more. Our Bible studies, our family prayers, our family fasting are all spiritual activities that members of the family must not take lightly. It will give every member of the family an opportunity for spiritual growth together.
God bless you.
