The wisdom of Prayer and Thanksgiving

I have never been so bothered by the act of ingratitude of a man whose children’s school fees I was paying. He has never asked me to help him with the school fees of his children but when his struggles became evident to me, I decided to extend a helping hand.

Recently, I gave him some money to help in discharging the burden of the school fees of his children. When he received the money, the man went into silent mode, saying nothing to me. He also got into trouble with the police, and I went to take him on bail. I went to the police station in the night to ensure his release, fortunately, someone had secured his release and this man was again silent. I was a bit bothered by his attitude of ingratitude. I wasn’t under any obligation to help him, but when I did, he should have at least said thank you. Yet he never did. I held my peace and said nothing to him.

This is how a mortal man feels when we demonstrate a level of thanklessness. If a man can feel that way, how about God. How will he feel when he has answered our prayers and we make him feel like he’s under an obligation to always answer our prayers when he isn’t.

When we are grateful to God for a dollar, we make ourselves candidates for $ 100 blessings. Gratefulness to God extends God’s hand. If you have seen the finger of God in anything that he has done for you gratitude to God will make him show you his whole hand. It is an act of faith for you to be grateful to God for what he has done for you.

John 6:11

And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

When Jesus had so many people to feed, the first thing Jesus did was to appreciate God for what he was about to do. And God responded to the attitude of gratitude of Jesus by blessing the bread and causing a multiplication to happen, a miracle that is so popular among the body of Christ. Yet it was an attitude of gratitude that brought it to pass.

As this year draws to a close, instead of piling more prayer points to the already existing ones, why not appreciate him for all he has already done so far. For all the prayers which you have seen answered. And trust him in appreciation to ensure that none of the prayer points on your list will extend to next year. Before the 31^st of December, 2019, if you apply the wisdom of thanksgiving, all your prayers request must enter into your hands.
