We are continuing our series today on prayer. I pray that the Lord will guide us and give us understanding in the name of Jesus. Amen. On Sunday the 21st April 2019, I will be taking my time to pray for everyone on my email list, who have been receiving my weekly post. There is nothing that changes and transforms like a revelation from the word of God. Indeed, the Bible has been emphatic concerning this when it states that, the entrance of the word of God brings light and gives understanding to the simple. In every area of your life that you had a revelation from the word of God, you will be very strong in that area. In the same vein, if you have a revelation concerning prayer, your prayer life will take a 360° turnaround.

That is the intent and purpose of this article today. To give you an understanding of the life of prayer and the blessing that follows whenever you open your mouth to pray. Your service to God is not only limited to when you do something active in the church. There are other areas of service which many are not aware of. Prayer is a form of service to God. And when you take on the life of prayer, the blessings of God will find a resting place in your life.

Luke 2:37

And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

Anna served God with prayer and fasting. Below is the blessing that the Lord conferred upon her.

Luke 2:38

And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

How many widows in the days of Anna had the privilege of speaking words into the life of Jesus? While many of them were busy in their widowhood, Anna was busy serving the Lord in prayer and fasting. Was she blessed by the act of prayer she offered? Yes, she was. As long as the story of Jesus is concerned on the face of this earth, you can’t talk about it without mentioning Anna the prophetess who made prophetic impartation into the life of Jesus.

Anna got this blessing because she decided to take on the life of prayer and fasting. And if we will follow the same example, the blessings of the Lord will come upon us beyond measure. Scriptural results are reproducible.

Sometimes, we take for granted the privilege given unto us to pray. Beyond communication, there is a blessing that is attached to prayer. Since prayer is a form of service when you serve God in prayer the blessings mentioned in the book of Exodus 23 will be yours.

Exodus 23:25-26

25 And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. 26 There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.

If we serve the Lord, what will he do?

Blessings upon Your Bread and Water

One of the immediate effects of serving the Lord is blessings upon your bread and water. When we speak about bread and water in the scripture under reference, we are referring to the works of your hand. It means whatever you are doing in your life, God has promised to bless it if you can serve in prayers. If you are a student, God will bless your academics. If you are in business, God will bless your business. If you are into writing, God will bless your writing. Whatever you are doing, God will bless it because that is the works of your hands. So, you won God’s blessing? Tap into the fountain of it through the lifestyle of prayer.

Taking Sickness Away from You

If you want to be healthy, then be a man or woman of prayer. The Bible tells us that God will take away sickness from your midst if you can serve him through the lifestyle of prayer. The panacea for sickness is service through prayer. A man that serves God in prayer, is a man that is full of health.

Fruitfulness

Barrenness is not only limited to the fruit of the womb. There is economic barrenness. There is academic barrenness. There is also favour barrenness. So, you see barrenness is not only when a person is childless. It goes beyond that. There are many that are barren in different spheres of their lives. What can break this barrenness is the life of prayer. If you can serve God through prayer, your barrenness in whatever area of your life will be broken. So you need to serve the Lord by prayer so that your life can be transformed beyond measure. And his blessings will find expression in your life.

Love and His Presence

Longevity

Prayer is a life extender. If you want to live long in the face of the earth, you must never forget to imbibe the life of service through prayer. Anna in the book of Luke chapter 2 verse 37 enjoyed a long life because she was a woman of prayer. Whenever you serve the Lord your God through the lifestyle of prayer, you become a candidate of longevity on earth. Never take for granted the opportunity given unto you through serving the Lord in prayer. The privilege that God has given you to pray for your friends, your loved ones, your co-workers, your leaders, your pastors, and several others must not be taken with levity. If you pray for them casually, you will get a casual blessing. You must be dedicated to the lifestyle of prayer. It is one of the avenues for service and whenever God finds a man that wants to serve him through prayer, he opens the windows of heaven and showers his blessing upon that man.

I pray that God will give us the grace never to joke with our prayers because it is one of the channels God uses to bless us. The more prayerful you become, the more blessed you will be. Just observe around you and see those are praying in the spirit and in truth. What are the things you are seeing in their lives? Blessings!

May the Lord help us, in Jesus name. Amen
