Light, the five letter word that we can’t do without. Light the same five letter word that is known the world over. We love it. We see it. Whenever it is absent, we feel it.
When God began his work of creation, he started first with light. He created it first to show us how important light is to our existence as children of God. Genesis 1:3
Psalms 27:1: “Let there be light; and there was light.”
It was a command that God gave to the earth, and it produced light. As long as the light was absent, the darkness continued. It cut everything that stood on its path. It subdued everything. The darkness progressed until God said, it is enough. You will no longer reign. The length of your tenure has expired. When the light came, darkness has to give way. It became the solution to the raging darkness on earth.
Darkness carries everything the devil represents. The Bible says Satan has no light in him. But the solution to the devil’s problem is light. If you ever want complete destruction of darkness in your life, you need light. Some of the greatest challenges or mountains of your life can be reduced to an ant hill if the light is present.
The important question then is, how do we get light? Notice one thing in Genesis 1:3, let there be light and there was light. God has already made available to us the light that we need for our victory, financial abundance, deliverance, and effective Christian living. This is confirmed in the Bible in the Book of 2 Peter 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue
Our obligation is to use the light that God has given to us through the revelation of his person (Psalms 103:7) and the Holy Ghost.

Sources of Light
a. God.
1 John 1:5 has said it all. God is light and in him, there is no darkness at all. You want light, then draw closer to God. The closer you are to God, the more light-filled you will be. Moses stayed with God on the mountain for Forty days. When he came down from the mountain, his face was so full of light that the children of Israel couldn’t look directly at it. Why? He stayed with light, God and he too was lighted. 2 Corinthians 3:13:
And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished
b. The word of God.
The word of God is light. God is light and everything he does is also light. Since he is light, the words he speaks also contains light. If any man wants light in an unquantifiable measure, consult your Bible. Study it, read it, and meditate on it. When the word enters into your heart, the light will be speaking from every part of your being. One time, I was struggling with eating in the dream of the night. There are times that God may feed you in the dream, but on most occasions, the devil uses it to oppress people. Whenever I woke up from the devil’s table, I would feel very depressed and unhappy. I prayed about it. It seems like the more I prayed, the more I ate in my dream. This darkness in my dream continued until when I had an encounter with light. I saw in the book of Mark 16:18 that even when they eat a deadly poison, it won’t harm them. This became the cure to my own struggle of eating in the dream of the night. My victory came gradually, but I overcame the devil through what I saw in the Scripture. I have read that scripture several times even before that day. Nothing happened. However, the day I saw the light from it, marked the beginning of my victory. This was years ago. My mountain was overcome by light, the word of God.
Whatever the challenge may be, look for the light. As you study it, it will light up every dark area of your life. For example, if you have a challenge with your husband or kids, ask yourself what God said about it and look for it in the word. Study the scripture until it becomes a revelation in your heart and meditate on it. Believe it and speak it. Whenever the word becomes light in your heart, you will no longer be troubled by the mountain that you are seeing. No matter how large the mountain may be.
c. The Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is God. He also has light. He is the one that enlightens our hearts to be able to understand the word of God. While the believer finds it easy to Google almost everything, asking the Holy Ghost is gradually being eroded by technology. And the question may be, Holy Spirit, what do you mean by no weapon formed against me shall prosper?
You can’t understand the word of God without the Holy Spirit. You need his guide when it comes to understanding the word of God. The book of Acts 8:29-31
29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.8:30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?8:31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
The Ethiopian eunuch was reading the Bible, but he couldn’t understand what the Bible is saying until Philip had to come around to offer some help. The Eunuch needed the help of a man, yet you have the Holy Ghost in your life. Your obligation is to ask God before you read the word as David was doing in Psalms 119:18.
