Divine Direction by the Power of God’s Voice (Series 1)

Last month, we dwelled extensively on prayer. And by the mercies of God, he gave us divine insight on how to pray and get results quickly. This month of May, we are shifting in level. We are going to focus on divine direction by the power of God’s voice. And I am trusting God that by the end of the series on divine direction by the power of God’s voice, anyone who followed the article should be able to hear God’s voice by himself. And if you have been hearing the voice of God, then a new dimension will be opened to you.

The Need for God’s Voice

Perhaps, one of the reasons why believers are lax concerning the voice of God is because they do not understand the power it carries. If they do, they will desperately want to be led through the power of God’s voice. We will examine the need for God’s voice in the life of a child of God.

It Confirms Jesus Shepherd Role over Your Life

Everyone who is a child of God, the day of your salvation marks the entry into a new covenant – the covenant of hearing the voice of God (John 10:27).  Everyone who is the sheep of God will always hear his voice. On the day of your salvation, Jesus becomes the Shepherd and the Bishop of your soul. And since he is one, the ability to be directed through the power of God’s voice become yours. It is an interesting thing to always hear the voice of God speaking in your ears because it is the demonstration of his shepherd position in your life. If you have seen Nomadic farmers shepherding their sheep, you will understand what I am saying to you. They make all sort of whispers, gestures, and even talk to the animals. Interestingly, those sheep just know what the shepherd is saying.  In the same vein, if you are his sheep, you are entitled to a constant hearing of his shepherding voice. Those who ain’t entitled to hear the voice of God are goats! At least we know that from the book of John 10:27.

Friendship

The voice of God communicates friendship. What do friends do? They talk! Whenever your life is marked by divine direction through the power of God’s voice, the inference that can be drawn from that is that God is your friend. Otherwise, if he wasn’t, he wouldn’t have been talking to you. Abraham was called the friend of God in the Bible because of the form of communication that ensued between him and God.

Praise God for the beauty of dreams, visions, impressions, and other forms of divine direction that God has multiplied in our generation. But there is something about the voice of God that this other media of divine direction do not provide. One time, when Miriam and other people in the land of Israel rose against Moses, God told them that if there are other prophets in Israel they only hear him through the medium of dreams and vision. But for Moses, he hears God mouth to mouth. What does this tell us? When God can direct you by his voice, it is an indication that you are his friend.

I am not trying to enthrone the voice of God above other media of divine direction. If God frequently talks to you in dreams, visions, impressions, open visions, and other means we praise God for his mercies in that area. However, God talking to you every day is an indication of friendship. And that is the reason why as a believer or a child of God, you should seek to hear his voice.

Sons/Daughters

It is those who are led by the spirit of God that are the sons of God. If you are not led, then you aren’t a son or a daughter. If God can give you divine direction by the power of his voice, then it is an indication that you are a son or daughter of God. One reason why the believer must always desire to hear the voice of God since those who hear him are his children. Every father talks to his own children. If the father created by God can talk to his own children in order to show them fatherly affection, how much more God who created earthly fathers. Will he not do more than that?

Knowing the Path to Walk

The Bible says you shall hear a voice behind you saying this is the way walk in it. It is impossible for a believer who is always guided by the voice of God to make a mistake in life. Except if that believer does not follow the divine direction coming through the voice of God. As you listen intently to what God is saying to you every day and walk in it, you become free from the scorch of trial and error prevalent in our generation. The Bible says you shall hear a voice behind you saying this is the way, walk in it. It means that God will tell you that particular way you should follow. The voice of God is precise. You get clarity of divine direction.

Isaiah 30:21

And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Why do you need the voice of God? So that you can know the particular way you should follow.
